Tiptoe through the painttray

Heh...the cats were apparently very curious about all the painting I did on the weekend. I ended up having to clip the paw fur of Gavin...he's wandered all around the painted stuff after I was done and managed to get it all over his paws. I figured it was fingerprints in the paint. Nope...Gavin prints.

The snow melted over the weekend and we're back to our regularly scheduled fall...kind of. There are still some leaves left on the trees and it's my favourite season, so I'm glad to get a little of it. I am pumped...it's fuzzy everything season. Fuzzy socks. Fuzzy hats. I broke out the micro-fleece sheets last night. They are so warm and cozy - like a giant fuzzy cocoon. :)

As a random odd link, here's a good one for you. In planning for emergency awareness and response, the University of Florida has included zombie awareness in their plans. Go here to see their written plans to respond to (*snort*) "zombie behavior spectrum disorder" or ZBSD as they so quaintly describe it. Good to know film scifi trends are trickling over into regular life. Now all we need are response plans for the coming apocalyptic robot hordes and we'll be all set.
Erm...I'll make sure I have my chainsaw ready and renew my zombie squad membership...just in case...

Tee hee

I can't deny I've thought of doing this with the Geek.
I just need my own little robot first...

Robot friends

Geek has made friends with the Transformers lately.
I think offerings of food helped...

Yowling Science of Paint

Thorugh significant and colourful experimentation, I have come to the conclusion that our cat Gavin either loves the Beastie Boys or hates them.

Tonight I was doing some painting of a chair (yellow) and a tool rack (red) in my mad scientist closet and was listening to some Beastie Boys...and the cat kept howling along. Not just any howl, but full out yowling, echoing in the shower operatic "he's here the Phantom of the Opera!" sort of yowls, and only stopped when I turned off the music when I was done. Gavin loves to sing and yowl at night (while we (try) to sleep) but this was a special opera just for me, the boys and the mixmaster himself. This has happened before...only when J is at work (when he is home I, music and everything but food do not exiist for this cat...). I may have J try it out next time I'm out and see if he gets the same effect.

A little more solidity to my theory? Well, now that I'm washed up, have administered tummy rubs to both cats and made some tea and put on Moby...nothing.
Hmmm...

Are you ready to catflex?

I was pointed to this book about using your cat to help you work out via a commentor at Cranky Fitness. It was so odd, I had to look into it...

Although I torment my cats to keep them away from me when I work out and stretch (well try to), my attempts at annoying Geek away by using him for arm curls this morning met with a furry wiggly resistance.
Apparently he doesn't think it's a good idea.
Oddly enough, looking at the photos on the back cover of the book, the cat on your back and shoulders while doing push ups and lunges HAS occurred in my house, but only because the little buggers won't leave me alone. I usually torment them to try and drive them off, or let them sit on my back while I do pushups, as it's just simpler that way.

This is just a really odd book - the fact that someone has actually published an illustrated guide to working out with your cat is...well...hats off to the crazy cat ladies is all I have to say.

Why I'm not allowed to be an engineer

I'd go for form over function and to amuse myself I'd probably come up with things like this...

Flying Cat Alert

dry cold weather + fuzzy slippers + carpet + me + approaching cat = static + shock + cat hopping in mid air + tears of laughter

I haven't laughed that hard in weeks...poor Geek. He still isn't sure what happened.

Cunning Plans
